We changed the IP scheme at our shop and I can change the IP address of the RS/6000 using the SMIT command, but the change isn't permanent. When I have to reboot the RS/6000 it goes back to the old ip address.

Question: How do I change the ip address permanently, so if I have to reboot the server it will maintain the new ip address and stay within our ip scheme??

To correct the problem, you want to change the IP address permanently by issuing:

smitty chinet

and then select the adapter that you want to change the IP address for and that's it.
