All simply. I following with next scheme and result always Ok:
1) Stop Symposium services
2) Change CLAN interface IP
3) Run "nbconfig -admin" and edit CLAN IP; press "Ok"
4) Run "svrconfig" and change CLAN IP; press "Ok" and wait for database were updated
5) Reboot Symposium server
John, is it standalone or cores? If it's not cores, ff7121's instructions are good to go. If it is cores, you may have a problem with the svrconfig part or getting the services to start up again.
So, if that is the case, here is the deal:
There is an entry in the hosts file for the old CLAN IP address and server name. (Typically this is used on a SCCS/SWC co-res server or CCMS/CCMA co-res server to enable multicast traffic because there is no DNS server available.)
MAS Configuration Manager has updated hosts file with record containing old IP address stored in the database as it synchronizes both lists each time it starts, which happens several times during the execution of Server Setup Configuration
1. Replace entry for old CLAN IP address in hosts file with new entry:
Windows 2000 server - c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows 2003 server - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2. Make host file read only (To stop Mas Configuration Manager from writing to it)
3. Rerun Server Setup Configuration and select new IP address. The update should now complete and the server should boot into service using the new IP address.
The hosts file can have the read only condition removed once the old CLAN IP address has been removed from the database.
Yep - follow Nortel's instructions to the exact detail.
And keep any and all IT professionals out of the room while your making the change. If they (or you) trying making the change the Microsoft way YOU WILL soon be rebuilding the server.
