When I ping my laptop, I get 30.142 as the ip address. When I ipconfig/all on my laptop, I get 30.49 as the address. I first noticed the difference using SurfControl software, and I need correct this for my users. Can anyone provide any tips or advice?

Ipconfig /all checks local IP setting on your workstation
When you ping your machine, you're quering your DNS server.

So it looks like you have invalid entries on your DNS server. You might want to clean those up then run ipconfig /renew on your workstation. Assuming everything is setup correctly and that your DHCP server registers new entries on your DNS server, this should do the trick.

You can also do "ipconfig /registerdns" to force your workstation to update DNS with it's current IP address.

Make sure your DNS server is set-up to scavange old records also. Otherwise you'll end up with multiple entries in your DNS for the same workstation.

Good luck

Thank you all for your advice. I'll start with your suggestions.
