IP 500 bri 4 and 8 Trunk card for old ISDN phone use?
I was wrapping up the T1 / SIP / BRI project when I started to notice ISDN. I forgot it was suppose to be a big thing.
Then I remembered years ago when I was looking into what AT&T system I should collect for. One used ISDN Phones.
Pretty sure you can see what I would like. In my research I found you can plug in ISDN devices like an ISDN Modem. You
can also use it as a trunk. It does talk about other ISDN devices but that is the missing peice.

So can you take any ISDN or what I'm looking at is Definity ISDN 7506T set. Plug that thing into the card and away I go?
I did not the card has two operation modes to. Oh and yes the phone probably needs it own power supply. Since it is not getting it from the system?
Also on a side note caller id would be nice to. Even if it is just phone number and not name.

Thanks,

Josh

To connect an ISDN endpoint (not trunk) you need the BRI adapter from Avaya that crosses RX and TX. And correct you will need a power supply for the phone as IPO doesn't supply power. Make sure the Line is configured as "S-Bus" and has unique incoming and outgoing line group.

Create a system short code 1234/dial/1234/linegroup to reach the phone. Within the line settings create a line short code like 9N/Dial/NS912223334444/ARS to send out the correct caller id.

Probably you have to set 1234 as MSN in the phone itself.

IP Office remote service
IP Office certificate check
CLI based call blocking
SCN fallback over PSTN

The official adapter is IP500 BRI So Converter Cable (700458649) which are hard to find nowadays so you may have to make your own. This is just a crossover with terminating resistors and there should be more info somewhere in the forum.

From what I have seen this splits out a trunk to a modem or VC system and is not a 'proper' extension as it is not mapped to a user. 'Proper' ISDN extensions seemed to be a German thing.

There was an SO8 expansion module but this was only supported to R9.0. I'm not sure if this provided power.

That was way more info on what I was looking for. Very much appropriate it. Yes, I figured I would have to
make my own cable. Though did find some converters in Germany. I already found out about the S08 expansion module from another post
on the forum from somebody having bad luck on being told yes it would work. But no it would not. On a side note.
I did wonder how many people even used it to bring over ISDN sets to a new system compared to just using it for
a ISDN trunk. Oh as for the termination. The end device may or may not have a setting for that. At least I found that much in a manual.
It will be a while until I get some stuff lined up. The card is cheap. The phones are $$$$.

Thanks,

Josh
