I am "attempting" my first PRI installation, so nothing better then trial by fire.

This is a dumb question I am sure for most, but I have 9 DiD's coming in that I need to route to a specific phone, hunt group etc.

Under the PRI setting would I just use the presented Telco digits (6 in this case) on any channel in the "Line Appearance" section? Then create an incoming call route with the same digits?

If not can someone refresh my memory, been a while since the training class :(

As the more I work with my file I wonder, do I even have to do what I asked about above?

Can it just simply work by adding an incoming call route entry with the said 6 digits going to the proper location?

Correct use incomming call route to push them where you want. put the line group of the PRI and then incomming number and select a destination.

Perfect... I remember it being very easy but couldn't remember exactly what it was.

So in conjunction with this. I have a outbound scenario with respect to the above question as well. It's a private line a doctor wants to have free at all times. I have the DiD incoming set as posted. Now under the PRi should I assign a channel to let say group 10 for both directions? Would this occupy that channel (let's say 1 of 23) at all times?

Not on the incomming. The incomming will come over any free channel. Usually most providers use 1-23 for incommig and we use 23-1 for outgoing. The DID's will never be on just one chan. The provider sees it as first available to send it on. the only way to block one outgoing would be to give it its own outgoing ID and create some sort of dial code that points to that group. like use 8 to get to that group. then just duplicate your [9] codes or if you are on 4.0 use your ars.

Well this is essentially what I had on the analog lines before they went PRi. I have 9 out regular and 8 out for private. I setup all the appropriate ARS, SC and permissions with the analog.

Where I guess I am a bit loss on is the difference in the 2 types of Telco connections.

I have to assign the said line to group "10" in and out on analog. Where the PRi sends it on any available channel in, as you mentioned, so I guess the same is out.

I this will work because they don't care what "line" it goes out on in this case, it's more the incoming. However, if I wanted to specify what "line / number" to go out on how would I do this? How do I tell the Pri to go out on a specific channel or DiD so it would display the proper CLID info the person they are calling.

As I said, it's ok for this scenario but I am curious on how to do it if I wanted to specify it.

Thanks Kwing for the info, this is great.

I may have answered my question....please confirm it for me....

Simply assign a channel to the outgoing group "10" under the channel in the PRi settings? AS well, leave the incoming under that same channel to 0 for any incoming.

They way PRi ad T1 work is more like a pool of lines. So there really is never 1 chan for one thing. It is usually set up for a group so that when you dial 9 the system says grab first chan open and starts to send the call. What you could do is use 8 to grab any line and have it send different caller id than the regular 9 code. That is only if the provider will let you. To do this you have to modify the ARS codes. You would need to make sure the line group ID is the outgoing of the PRI and in the number field your TN would look like this 1Nsxxxxxxxxxx. The x's are the phone number you want sent out. That is if you are in the united states. You may also have to do it like this as well.
1Nsixxxxxxxxxx. The did really only is used for incomming so it really has nothing to do with outgoing.

AHHHHH yes, that would make sense. This is what the difference is that I wasn't clearly thinking about.

Ok so what if the provider doesn't allow me to send the CLID? Bell in Canada by the way. I will have to ask them if this can be done....I actually do need to do this for one reason that I completely over looked. Let's hope Bell let's me do this :)

Kwing your getting a star for all this feedback.

Most of them ihave dealt with in the us will let you do it. You may have to ask and have a change order put in.

Good thing it's getting setup tomorrow :p perhaps it's not to late....I will see how it goes. Thanks for the info!

Just as a follow up to anyone who finds this thread, everything went well and worked as described. Bell does allow the CLID to be sent.

However, the name inbound and outbound with the PRI does not work and I have been told 4.1 will address this (hopefully) since Bell changed their protocol.
