i have a user requesting an ip 2050 soft phone on his pc that he would like to have access two pbx numbers on two different IP's. is there a setting on the software to allow this?
If they are using the latest (v3) version of the 2050, then it has the concept of "profiles". You could configure one profile with one set of IP addresses/Node/TN and a different profile with a different set of IP addresses/Node/TN.
Dont forget Ver. 3 requires the licensing server. It will work for 30 days with out it, but then throw you a Licensing Error. The licensing server requires a nortel key.
When the softphone first comes up, you will be given a 4 or 5 second window to change the TN. The trick is to click on the "Backspace" soft button in that window of time. So when you see the existing TN, click on the Backspace soft button and then input the new TN.
thanks that is what i was looking for. actually i came across a strange situation.
the hardware id on two seperate laptops was the same in the settings. it caused one person to be kicked off their ip phone as each time the other person logged on. i reset the hardware id on one of the laptops to fix the issue.
I have opened a Nortel CR on this issue just this past week.
If you are experiencing this problem, have your vendor open a Nortel trouble ticket (no charge to them) and reference CR Q01943284 in the ticket.
You will be first on the list to receive notice when the issue is corrected.
The workaround on the IP Softphone 2050 is:
Go into Settings > Hardware ID
Then press the Reset button to use a different Hardware ID (MAC address)
The phone will reset and then should register fine with the new HW ID.
Ideally you should select the Hardware ID that matches the MAC address of your PC NIC which can be found by issuing the ipconfig /all command from the DOS window.
