I can understand why you would want a computerized scope: automatically adjust for wind, distance, bullet weight, amount of powder, etc.; but a hackable weapon????

Interesting, but really not an issue. Any good sniper worth his salt would notice the round hitting left by (according to the article) a couple feet, immediately jack in another round, and send the next one aimed the same distance to the right. Kentucky windage. Assume the scope's off and manually adjust. The only downside being the intended target is warned (by his Lieutenant's head exploding) and has a chance to hit the deck.

The "hacker" would need to be within WiFi range, and a lot of sniper engagements in the modern battlefield are reaching out over 1,000 yards, well beyond WiFi range. Anything within WiFi range is close enough to use your M4 or a (very) steady hold on an M9.
