Hi,

I'm trying to get stats (kb read/written) on my DLT/LTO tapes, but i don't know how .
With Solaris "iostat" allows to get stats from disks, tapes, tty ... but in AIX the same command can't be used for rmt devices.

Is there another commands you know that could help me ?
Thx A lot , and sorry for my english.

hi ,

if you want to find out how much data is written to drive and how quick try :-

time dd if=/tmp/bigfile of=/dev/rmt0 bs=32k

bigfile is a bigfile say for testing purposes 10 MB

try this with different block size i.e. 32k , 64k etc..

see which one is the quickest

NB;- Make sure you have set your tape drive block size to 0
, if you want your program to control it ( e..g in the above case dd )
