IOS Upgrade how to? Please!

I often find myself trying to use command that are not recognized by my router.

As I am quite new to CISCO router, can anyone explain to me all the process around upgrading the IOS to get all commands and features possible.

As an example I have a CISCO 1751 router with verion 12.2(15)T7 and I am not able to use crypto command for encryption!!!!!

There are a lot of different IOS versions with different feature sets. The one in your IOS is dependent upon your license. Most likely, you simply don't have IPSec.

The actual upgrade process is simply "copy tftp flash" after obtaining the new image from Cisco.
