I had problems with configuring a zip on a pre-loaded SUN box. Found that if I reloaded the box from the Solaris 8 01/1 release it picked up the zip drive during the build. There are several patches that effect the zip recognition on the Solaris they are included in the 8 01/1 release. Hope this helps.
