Hi all,

I have an Iomega 16x10x40 IDE CDRW which uses a housing that converts it so that I can use a USB port (as It is a NetVista machine, it has no other free IDE port)

I'm unable to get this device to work on XP, Its just detected as unknown device. The driver which came with it, pointed to a website , but it has no listing of this external casing. I think its a modification of an IDE/USB card which gets attached to a casing. Nor it has an updated driver for the card.

This card / CDRW has worked on a WIN98 machine without a problem at all. ;) But I'm really dying to get this to work on XP - Can anyone please shed a light on this poor soul ?

Are the USB settings enabled in the BIOS?

I'm not up to par on USBs, but I know that you can enable/disable them in BIOS.

Hope it helps!

do you have a USB mouse or other device you could try first to see if it picks it up ok.
