Before I get blown up for using a print server in 2021, this is for relatively expensive Zebra thermal printers that do not have any networking ports/wifi and need an IP for the new software we are rolling out. We have a bunch of them and the cheapest method was to add print servers instead of shelling out $800 a piece for new wifi models when the Zebra thermal printers we have work fine...... Now on with the question.
We have purchased a handful of IOGear GPSU21 print servers off of Amazon. The first batch had a firmware from 2017 which works fine. The second set have a firmware from 2009 which only allows you to access the browser portion via IE as it is likely using some sort of Active X or Java that the new browsers do not like. We have contacted IOGear chat support and they say that there isnt any newer firmware for us to upgrade the older one to which is confusing as we have a new version on half of our print servers. Is anyone operating these print servers or have interacted with IOGear or know the possible FTP server this firmware may live on? We are reaching out to IOGear again in attempts to speak to another tech that may have different info but our hopes are not strong.
