Invoking a new version of device manager from Optivity switch manager.

I have just installed optivity Switch manager 1.1.0.0 and it comes with Device manager 5.0. However this version of device manager does not support the switches in my network.

I have installed device manager 5.5 which works fine, but Optivity keeps invoking 5.0 when you double click an Icon.

I have tried altering paths, copying files from the 5.5 directory to the OSM directory all to no avail. I have used Regmon and filemon to see what is happening when Device manager is invoked from optivity and it loads the DM_40.jar file. I have replaced this file with the 5.5 version and this stops it working at all.

There must be an easy way to tell OSM to use a later version of DM, does anyone know?

Colin I agree with everything you say, I have been keeping my baystack 450s at 3.1 so the were manageable from OSM. If you find an answer, let me know! I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

I have since logged a call with Nortel and they have advised there is a work-a-round to get OSM to use DM 5.4 but not 5.5 yet.

What I have found with the problem that you are having is that, for now there doesn't seem to be a fix for this there is a CR Q00102618 on this problem. i have Switch Manager running with DM 5.3.0.0
I have installed dm in c:\program\jdm and switchmanager in d:\program\osm
after that i simply copied all the files from c:\program\jdm to d:\program\osm. and it works. i havent tested this with DM 5.5 but DM 5.3 works with all my switches!
