Invisible document in form

I have a number of object fields for which I create forms to leaf through. (I think that makes sense.) I querry the main database for the details and filter a small number of fields in the search forms to select the documents to view. This has always worked very well, but my recent efforts bring up the forms, which show the selection fields but not the objects (usually .doc files). Whazzup?

I can open them from the form (right click) for viewing, but that slows things down terribly. The field in the form, however, appears as a blank space. Any thoughts what dll I might have inadvertently insulted?

The problem is solved. For all those who follow find themselves in the same boat, the answer was a complete removal and reinstallation of not only Paradox (that caused some unrelated problems) but of the entire WordPerfect suite. I should have tried that about sixteen hours of frustration ago.
