Hi
I am running version 3.71 Mas 90.
We did not do a physical inventory this year. So I did not freeze inventory and print count sheets.

Can I just close inventory and move to the new fiscal year?
Will my inventory be there as it is there currently??

We have thousands of item numbers to enter and hoping I don't have to sit and re-enter.

Any advise would be great
Thanks

If you are talking about just closing the period, then nothing bad will happen.

I'm talking about closing the period / year end.

Month End/Year End Close has absolutely NO adverse effects on you inventory items. All it does is roll up your historical summary information.

However you question is a little puzzling. When you say you have thousands of item numbers to enter what do you mean? Enter where?

Physical Count and Closing have nothing to do with each other. You can do a Physical Count any time you want. Many companies do their yearly physical during their slowest month. It is actually rare to do it right at year end.

Thank you so much for the responses.

So we do our inventory once a year, at fiscal year end.
It is our slowest shipping time of the year.

This is the first time we have not done a physical inventory at year end. I was told that if I freeze inventory for a physical count that I have to key the counts back in for each item even if there is no variation to the count or Mas 90 takes it to zero. For example: If item number 2355 has 23566 of them in inventory then I have to physically key in 23566 or Mas 90 will show it 0. (this of course is when we do inventory)

I wanted to make sure the Mas 90 didn't have some strange feature that will clear my inventory at the end of the year if I didn't do a physical inventory. As I REALLY don't want to sit and re-enter these if I don't have to.

So from what you are telling me is that I can close my prior fiscal year end and the new one will continue right where inventory was.

On Physical Count, you are correct. If you freeze an item and that item has 23,566 on hand you MUST go into Physical Count Data Entry and enter in 23,566 on v4.30 or less. On v4.40 you can change the settings to default to QtyOnHand I believe.

MASGuy, can you not just unfreeze the inventory before you close to prevent this? Clear frozen items?

I just mistakenly proceeded to "print worksheet and freeze all items" instead of simply printing the physical count worksheet on a MAS90 system installed back in 2000. Is there any way I can simply unfreeze the items as we don't typically to a physical count entry at the end of the year? I REALLY don't want to have to re-enter our entire inventory! Merry Xmas, right?:) What does "clear all frozen items" do? Does it zero them out or does it unfreeze them?
