I am trying to inventory tapes in my IBM LTO library, and for some reason, there are 3 tapes that I cannot get to inventory properly. It acts as if it is inventorying them, and completes... but then displays the tape name in each of these 3 slots as <Updating...> and does not ever do anything else. What can I do to get ARCserve to realize that I have 3 brand new blank tapes that I need to format? I have tried placing the tapes in different slots, and it produces the same results. I have tried doing this with no labels attached to the tapes, and I have tried this with barcoded labels attached... same result. I have tried this with a completely new database and I get the same result. Has anyone else experienced this?

Seen this when the IBM LTO driver was loaded. See faq478-3987 for my 2 cents on drivers.

Thanks for your response. I tried disabling the LTO in Windows device manager this morning. I then tried rebooting and re-inventoried and I am still faced with the same problem. 3 Slots with new blank tapes in them that stay labeled as <Updating...>

OK, I have a backup running right now, but in the morning I will attempt to inventory these slots again and will get a tape log posted here.

We want to see a log of the startup of the Tape Engine. After it initilizes it will do the inventory.
