Inventory from servers with advanced client

I am Running SMS 2003 and I have mostly legacy clients but I have about 20% advanced clients. The advanced client seems to be working fine on the workstations but on my servers they are not reporting inventory. Remote tools and software distribution do work however. Has anyone seen this?? Is this a known issue that Microsoft has released a hot fix for??
