Inventory Aliases

Aliases created for part numbers are no longer avaialable for use in inventory inquiry, however they still work in the other modules, ie. Purchase Order, Inventory Maintenance. We had consultants in to run some of the utltities and they claim that we need a custom programmer to repair this feature.
- PS these consultants created the snaffu !!!

I just tried this in standard MAS90 3.51, 3.61, and 3.71 and I see the same behaviour in each:

Alias Item Numbers work in S/O, P/O, but not in inventory inquiry or in inventory maintenance. Seems rather odd, but that appears to be the standard MAS90 behaviour. Your developer/reseller would be correct in saying a modification would be needed to add the behaviour you desire.. but it shouldn't cost that much. I'd estimate it to be about an hour of work to do.

(I'm a programmer and work for a mas90 reseller/developer--and bid and code this type of stuff all of the time)
