I was playing a game and it was kinda choppy so I decided to reboot, so after I rebooted it wouldn't reboot. It kept saying "invalid system disk, replace with system disk" or something to that extent. I tried unplugging the A drive to see if it would boot, but it still has that message. Any idea on how to fix this??? I've tried everythign I can, and could use some useful advice...
Thanks

Ususal method is fdisk /mbr or sys c: from the emergency boot floppy that was made when the OS was installed. I suspect that it might require the sys.

I don't have an emergency floppy from when the OS (WinME) was installed but would any DOS boot disk work?
Also can you talk a little more about fdisk/mbr and sys c: because that doesn't mean much to me (newbie here).

if you could just explain what i should try kinda step by step that would be helpful. thanks

I was just curious, you didn't have a floppy inserted in your floppy drive when you restarted the computer, did you?
You will get an "invalid system disk" if you don't remove it. I could be wrong, so don't hold that against me. At least I'm trying! I hope I've helped in some way........

Forget what I said. It says "non-system disk" if you leave a floppy in. My memeory failed me! I could be wrong, so don't hold that against me. At least I'm trying! I hope I've helped in some way........

Fdisk /mbr puts a new bootstrap program on the boot sector without corrupting the partition table.
Sys c: is a utility that reinstalls the 4 critical files that are required to boot a system.
Both are meant to be run from a bootable floppy.
I've never used fdisk from any other that the same level of system so I don't know how generic it is.
Sys will be OS version specific.
How about a floppy that came with the OS? It will have both utilities. Ed Fair
