Hi,

We're using BrightStore ARCserve Backup r11.1 (Build 3060). I'm trying to do a restore using the restore by session and I keep getting the error message

Invalid Session header signature (SIG=0000000)

no matter which tape I use to restore from.

All I need is one file from the backup. I've tried selecting that file, I've tried selecting the entire folder.

I've tried checking CA's website and it was less than helpful.

Any ideas as to why and what I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance
BJ

Start by checking for a product update especially for a Tape Engine update, it is called Added Device Support update.

Try a restore by media and use a filter for the file you want. If this works then it is a database problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I've updated our software by installing SP2, Device Patch 9, and the security patch. Unfortunatly, I still have the same issue.

I tried to do a restore by media and it went through the restore process but the folder it restored to was empty and the job log said 0kb and 0 files restored.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks
BJ

Sounds like it did not find anything to match the filter used. If it had and failed to restore it then there would have been an error.

If you have the disk space try restoring the whole session. If not you might want to consider doing it anyways just to see if it will restore some files and then cancel the job.
