This message is filling up the status log and nothing I've done so far has eliminated it. I deleted the system distribution list that had the invalid member, then I removed the invalid nodes from the system, but the error is still generating. I haven't been able to decode the error, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what else I need to look at? This is on an Aria 250.

Ken, thank you for the information. I have no knowledge of this procedure, but I see it is a selection via menu 20. Will running this process have any other impact on the system or messages?

Without having looked at the full menu, is it an event that you schedule or does it run immediately? I see you have to indicate which drives. Should I assume all drives?

Anything else I need to know regarding this process? I should mention that the system is running software 03.10.09-1.

you can run it at any time. and run it on all drives there should be no other impact on the system but when it askes you if you want to update drives you must say yes or the disks will then be full.

Thanks Ken. I probably won't do this until next week, but I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I'll let you how it goes.

Ken, I ran the garbage collect yesterday and that took care of it. No more messages in the status log.

One remaining question is that when it finished I saw the following messages:

Error checking msgid 000000E6, rc = 00000002
Bad msgid 000000E6 found in iun 00C5

Error checking msgid 00000138, rc = 00000005
Bad msgid 00000138 found in iun 00D2

Then at the end:

Message(s)/Name(s)/Grouplist member(s) deleted from following users:
At this point it listed several mailboxes. So is it possible that it actually deleted messages from the users mailbox or is it just deleting "garbage" that the user wasn't even aware of.

Again, thank you, this made my week. I've been looking at this on and off for months. I wish I had found this site sooner.

Linda

The errors are showing that the users that were on the list did indeed have messages or greetings removed from them. That is what the garbage collect does is check the iun and then the drive to see if what it is reporting is really there. If it is not then it clears the disk space. It could be that the users had a problem and did not report it or could mean that there was some garbage on the drive that is now clear.

Let me know what i can do to help.

in looking at this error what it looks like is that it was 2 messages that may have been sent to many users via a list or a bulletin mailbox and that it was old and needed to be deleted. That is why it showed so many mailboxes on the list.
