invalid include links in moved word documents

We have a major problem in that we have several hundred documents that are moving to another server.

Unfortunately, most of the documents have INCLUDETEXT links in them that point to other documents using a full UNC path ie \\SERVERNAME\SHARE\... (you can see the problem!!) when we move the documents none of the links point to the documents on the new server!

We have a week to move all the documents and get them working before the server is discontinued. I have looked on the net for search and replace tools but haven't had any luck so far. Windows own search and replace does not pick up text within fields for some reason.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

May I suggest...and hopefully...

1. Open a doc.
2. Hit Alt+F9
3. Do a search and replace.
4. Hit Alt+F9 to turn off viewing the codes.
5. Save the file.
6. Close it.

Hit Alt+F11
Double-click the module called NewMacros in the Project normal (or normal.dot) on the left of the screen. You'll see your macro there. Copy it.

Come back here and paste it into a NEW question titled "How can I loop this code so it does the search/replace through all files in a directory called N:\whatever\whatever"

That way, you're avoiding a lot of questions from someone who might know how to code it but doesn't have the time to ask all those questions. I don't code myself...but I work with lots of coders.
