Hi,

Our network group is asking me to check in my AIX server, as it's making huge "Invalid ICMP attempts" to a particular IP address as per their report.

Is there any way I can find out which process or script is making this problem? From ps -ef I can't see any "ping" or such request which is listening to that IP address.

Regards,
Sam

Well,

I found some way to solve such issue. Here is the step which I followed and it worked. Thought of share with you.

AIX has a feature called MTU discovery which is based on ICMP packets in order to learn MTU sizes on the LAN.

no -a will show whether tcp_pmtu_discover and udp_pmtu_discover are enabled (1) or disabled (0). Disable them with:

no -o tcp_pmtu_discover=0
no -o udp_pmtu_discover=0

Thanks.
Sam
