When using Arcserve 2000 Enterprise Edition with SP4 in combination with the Arcserve 2000 client agent everything backs up well but when I try to restore things I get the message 'invalid file signature' and the restore jobs fails

Anyone have any ideas???

This can be caused by a number of things.

Can you restore the tape to a different location? Say a temporary folder on the local system?

Was RIS or SIS active on the volume that the files were backed up on, and is no longer?

Can you run a test restore by session (ie not using the DB) to a temp folder on the local system?

If you purge the media record from the DB, can you merge it back in successfully?

Need to know more about the backup job in order to pinpoint the problem with the restore really!

1)tape cannot be restored to another location, same problem arises.
2)no RIS and sis are noton the volumes.
3)test restore by session does not work, same problem arises.
4)Yes
