1. What is a file handle? A name or alias?
2. I added crystal rpt to the desktop info server. I'm getting "invalid file handle" when I try to "design" it from the info server. Is it because I gave it a title different than the report name?
3. I can design, print, etc. fine from the crystal reports.

I'm a newbie. Thanks for the help.

That's never a good error...

I'd fear file or possibly file system OS corruption, in either case, make sure you have backups of all important files before proceeding.

Try saving the file to a new name using Crystal Reports, and then place that in SI. If that fails, try saving it to an older format if possible, then open it and save it to the current format (whatever version of SI you're using). I've ressurected damaged reports this wayt before.

Good luck.
