Invalid ext. on incoming call

I have an ext 7160 which I renumbered to x160. This is going to be a fax number. When I dial x160 internal works great. When I dial from the outside 952-937-7160 I get a recording "Please wait extension not valid." What do I need to do in programming to access this number from the outside?

How are you dialing ext 160 from "outside"?? If it is through a voicemail autoattendant - you need to create a mailbox for that extention - even if a transfer only mailbox - otherwise the default security option is that you cannot transfer to an extention that does not have a valid mailbox of some type.

I am dialing the number 952-937-7160 from my cell phone to test the port. I am not sure if it goes through an AA but I will try the mailbox route.

If this is a DID extention - then the table entries for translating it from whatever digits the phone company sends to match your extention numbering - need to be changed. If it was working before - why did you change it from 7160 to 160? You can't change the extention number for that one phone without affecting what happens when a DID number is dialed externally and translated by the system.

It was not working before the changing of the number to 160.

is this a valid did number, is it in the block of numbers from the telco provider? Do you have both smaller numbers and larger numbers (than 160)?

I got it figured out. The customer had two different office code for did numbers. System renumber->single->old number->new new number. Solved the issue.
