I have had some problems restoring the login/desktop shell in Solaris 7. I have been able to change the shell for root and logon from the command line. However, I have not been able to get the desktop to accept the shell as valid. what do I need to do to correct this. I seem to recall needing to link a file to something. I just cannot remember what that file and link should be

you really shouldn't change the shell for root, once you are root you can always run the other shell ...

it's a safety feature ... the /sbin/sh always exists, and is not used by anything else, and is very very unlikely ever to get corrupted!

you can change it by editing the /etc/passwd file, but you really should think about _NOT_ doing it :)
