invalid date in Transformer

Hi All,
One of the date columns in the transformer after creating categories shows "invalid dates".
In the iqd original date format was mm/dd/yyyy+time,which i have changed it to mm/dd/yyyy.
In order to handle null values i am inserting some date say
02/26/2004....even then i get this category created in transformer?
i also tried chaging the input format at the transformer side?
Any ideas why so?

in the data sources, click the date column property, set the data type to date and under the Time tab, select the format to mdy (if ur date format id mm/dd/yyyy, if not corresponding format).
