I use the same text file a "history" that appends every day to the end. When importing the text file using file specifications already established, sometimes processes stops with message "invalid argument". All fields have type text. Access help says "In Windows Control Panel, the Regional Settings property is set to a region that uses a character other than a period (.) as a decimal separator. The settings for properties in data access pages require that the decimal separator be a period for all languages." I checked the regional settings for my computer and a period is used for decimal separator.

Have you examined the records that cause the problem? (That's the first step.) What was special about those records ie when you edited each field, what was in the field that was the cause of the problem and what is the format of field were you trying to append to?
