Have a good one for some of this forum's Intuity techs.

Have a client that their old Intuity crashed at their hotel. Have a MAP5P -V3 replacement and they were using the Homesco R5 Call Actg Software. The latest SW CD - R5.1.56 didn't have the Homesco SW on it so we did a clean SW install using R5.1.48 SW load which has the Homesco CAS on it.

5.1.48 install went fine - we loaded Homesco - Lodging and PMS for standalone (direct connect to their PMS server.) The old Intuity was using a Multi-Port serial card - Port A to SMDR & Port B to PMS. Had to use the newer Super Serial card as the older Multi-Port card wasn't supported in R5 software loads.

After finishing R5.1.48 installation - ran the software update using R5.1.56 CD. Upgrade went fine.

All connections and functions worked fine when we set it back up except the PMS link - link showed being up to the 7400 but no protocol. We did some more checking and found they weren't direct connected to the hotel's PMS server as we were originally trold - rather they were running the PMS Guestworks Definity integration software thru the DCIU link (accurate site connection info is so helpful!)

So we stopped the voice system - removed all cabling - DCIU & super serial connections to be safe - and removed the original PMS integration package. It was successful and we rebooted the MAP5P.

It rebooted fine - no errors - and when we tried to get back into the Software Installation screen to load the PMS Guestworks integration package - we are getting a "can't Mount CD-Rom Device". The drive is fine and R5,1,56 CD is fine as we tried it on another box - we rebuilt the UNIX kernel to be safe - (shutdown -i6 -g0 -y from the root login) thinking the device or driver got "lost" during the PMS package removal - but still get the same error.

Tried all the tricks we know but nothing is working. I originally thought we might need to use the old R5.1.48 software CD as Intuity SW might be looking for the original SW load CD - but that would have only given us the standard error message - "wrong SW version - insert the correct SW CD" - which it doesn't give us - just the "can't mount CD-ROM device.

Any tips on how to fix this problem without reloading the base software from scratch again? Don't want to do that as Homesco dialed into it and uploaded and setup all their default area code data and config files and would have to do it again.

The issue has to do with the boot floppies used during the construction. The older floppies use a one set of drivers, The 5.1.43 and later loads has a different set of drivers for the CD which get loaded. Essentially what is happening is you have 2 sets of drivers loaded for the same device.
This drove me nuts till I figured it out. Unless you can get into the shell and remove the older drivers. you will need to obtain the latest boot floppies (AVAYA J1P321TO-1 L1 PC-5y994-01 1.0) and have a do over.
If you know a good Linux guy with GNU that could boot into it, or access it thru root and do a bit of editing, you might recover.
I think what is happening is that the driver from the Lucent floppies gets loaded and remains, and then the upgrade CD loads the second driver set and then the fight starts.
