I connected with an Intuity Audix 5.1 and displayed alarms.
I cannot find a description for the alarm in the text.
APP RESOURCE ALARM CODE LVL
vp reboot 1 warning
Unix, which is operating system that Audix uses, expecially in the 5.x versions requires a periodic reboot in order to clear garbage from the system files. Unix does not have a defrag utility. If the system has not been rebooted in the last 240 days you will see this alarm. It would probably be best to do an after-hours soft shutdown and power off (cold) reboot, in fact it might good to do this two or three times if the machine has not been serviced for a long time.
It might also be a good idea to obtain a couple of cans of dust-off canned air, remove the case cover and clean out the cabinet, power supply, fans and processor heat-sink.
Be careful of the fans and the canned air, hold the fan blades with a pencil or other wooden object when dusting to prevent bearing damage caused by spinning the fans too fast with the compressed air.
Unix is an operating system that creates Processes, and then it creates Child processes, and then, the Parent process dies, and the child lives on as a "GREMLIN". (of course, this comparison comes just in time for HALLOWEEN)
AND then the GREMLINS keep sucking up MEMORY.
Thus, the only way to kill the GREMLINS is to RE-BOOT the machine.
Does anyone think that WINDOWS also creates GREMLINS?
-AND/OR- How 'bout MAC, considering it's running on UNIX, Does it also have GREMLINS?
I'm feeling insecure now, I think I'll go carve a Pumpkin......
