Hi all,

I have a question to pose to this forum...

I have a live virtual server 2005 running on Windows Server 2003 enterprise on a Dell Poweredge 2850. This virtual server is running three guest OS systems all running Windows Server 2003 Standard R2. Now after reviewing, the company have decided we need to have a failover of this virtual environment. Something as simple as hardware fails in node 1, the vms failover to node 2. I can see how to set this up in a 2 node cluster environment at Windows level. However, is it possible to set this up on my live server? Can I add cluster functionality to it, then move the vhd files to a storage device and configure virtual server this way? Or would I need to build and configure a 2 node cluster seperately and then setup the VMs etc.

I assume I need a PE 2850 for the second node with an identical processor, motherboard etc?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Kind regards,
John
