intranet web page value pass in url to prompted report

I am new to microstrategy. I want to capture a value on a web page (the .net guy will do that) and pass it through an url to a prompted microstrategy report. I have been looking at varous ways from a microstrategy document. However, I need to do this in a url on the web page that will get the parameter from a source other than a document or another report.
