I'm having an issue trying to access our company intranet outside of the network. When going to the intranet address it pulls up Microsoft Live Search saying it could not find any results. Let me give a little rundown of things that have changed.
We recently moved webhosting companies. GoDaddy is the registar of our domain. We have 2 seperate domain names through them. The first domain name (the one in question) is using the new nameservers. The second domain (which is still accessible) is still on the old nameservers. I did not want to transfer it over until I can resolve this issue otherwise our intranet will be unavailable completely.
The new nameservers are active (DNS has progagated) and the website is viewable. FTP can be accessed. Our exchange server has the MX records pointed correctly. The only thing unavailable is the Intranet (inside network it is fine)
Now when I look into our Forward lookup zone, these are the options I have listed:
(same as parent folder) Host(A) 111.111.111.111
(same as parent folder) Host(A) 222.222.222.222
ftp Host(A) 222.222.222.222
intranet Host(A) 192.168.0.100
mail Host(A) 192.168.0.100
www Host(A) 222.222.222.222
(same as parent folder) Name Server(NS) server.mycompany.local
(same as parent folder) Start of Authority(SOA) server.mycompany.local
I removed the public IP addresses for security purposes.
Now, the IP address with all 1's when pinged returns a Request timed out error. When I do a WHOIS on this IP address, it belongs to the old webhost company and points to the old nameservers.
The IP address with all the 2's is the IP address assigned by our new webhost company. When I put that IP into a browser, it does not pull up our website. It pulls up the mainpage to the new webhost.
Finally, the 192.168.0.100 IP is the private IP assigned to our server.
I know this issue has to be DNS related and any assistance in resolving this will be greatly appreciated. Let me know if any other information is needed. TIA!
