Hi,
I've had a tricky problem on my intranet for the last 2 months : When viewing a page containing an activeX control from PCs located in different plants, sometimes the activeX control downloaded and sometimes not with PCs having the same OS/IE releases installed.
1) The W2K PCs were power users.
2) The internet and local intranet security settings were set to 'Active' concerning ActiceX and plugins.
More tricky : the same PC after a hard-disk crash would not download the ActiveX control anymore.
So the actual problem was that the ActiveX CODEBASE link was instead of adresse/...
And on PCs located on remote plants were the 'host' file (which translates the servername into an IP address) was missing, the browser was enable to locate the ActiveX on the intranet.
ex : instead of , I use now
Hope this will help some of you since I have been puzzled during the last 2 months without noticing this quite basic failure.
