I'm tryin gto instll IE6 onto a machien running NT4.0 SP6a, and I get the following error .....

"The download location information is damaged. Please clear your Internet Exploere Browser cache and retry setup"

Problem I have is that I don't appear to have IE installed on this machine, so I can't clear the cache ?

All ideas welcome !!!

Is this from a saved download or CD?

Try clearing the temp directory...

This is a completely new install?

I'd be very surprised not to see at least IE 3 or 4 on the system unless it's a new install.

Do a search for iexplore.exe...if you find it, it's on there.

It's from a saved download, and there appears to be parts of I.E 4 on the machine, but not a complete install !!!

The download may be corrupt.

I've had downloads fail (I KNOW that's not what anyone wants to hear, especially on dialup) when they were interrupted and I resumed them..without starting again (even when they gave me the chance). You may find it from a local ISP on CD...for free.

I'd delete all the remnants you can identify and try it (if you haven't.)
