Internet vs Intranet temp stop

Have 3 cpu's connected via lan cards. 2 of 3 have no problem individually connecting to the Internet via their modem and can still share files with the other cpu's. However, one cpu when connected to the Internet terminates Intranet and picks it up again after I log off of the Internet. Settings all appear to be the same. Only difference is the problem cpu is using IE 5.5 and other are using 5.0. Suggestions?
