I have an issue with my Internet Explorer. My internet was working before (I can go to websites in IE). Then after maybe 2-3 hours, when I open IE again and connect to another site, it seems that my internet connection is lost. I went into DOS and started to using ping to check the connection. I am able to ping the sites but my IE cannot connect to them. My Outlook cannot also connect using POP3 over the internet. When I restart the computer, everything is back to normal. This didnt happen that often before but now its happenning more. Does anyone have the same problem or does anyone know the solution to this? Can this be a virus? Thanks.

My IE is version 6.0 on a Windows XP Pro system.

Don't forget to update.

Run full system scan.

Also, empty the temporary internet files.
