Internet Offline

I've got an XP machine that accesses the internet fine over a wireless network at home. But in the office, connected to the ethernet adapter, IE tells me that webpages are unavailabe offline. But the computer has a good IP address and can ping successfully over the internet.
What setting am I missing?

Does the machine know who its DNS is?

Goto dos prompt (run/cmd) and type ipconfig /all

dns should be either the gateway server at work or the dns of your isp.

if none is present get the dns address off your net manager and then enter it into the tcp/ip settings in network settings.
