Internet not seen through a LinkSys Wireless Router.

Hello, I have a LinkSys wireless router that has been used before and I know works perfectly. I recently got and ADSL line, and Im using a modem from the phone company that along with being a modem, is also a router. When the LinkSys router is being setup (using the LinkSys netCheck tool) it "Cannot detect an internet connection." Of course nothing can pull internet through it then. However I have a NetGear (peice of junk) Wireless Router that when pluged into the modem works perfectly, with no needed setup. So naturally my issue is I have two routers (The modem and the linksys..) So now how do I set up the linksys so I can pull net through it?!?!

Edit : That NETGEAR One is A SWITCH. sorry!

Is the ISP using PPOE or DHCP? If it is using PPOE you will need to enter the information into it.
