Hi,
I have installed Windows 2,000 recently. Is it possible to log the amount of Data being requested from the internet. I want to know how much of data is transmitted and how much is downloaded from the Internet or Intranet. I want to put it in a log file.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

This is how you do it......
Open your control panel, double click 'Administrative tools' and then double click 'Performance'

From here you can monitor virtually everything.

You need to create a new log instance (the default cannot be modified) by right clicking and selecting 'New log settings.....'

In the option 'Performance object' select 'Network Interface' (or perhaps 'IP' if using a modem?)

You can then use 'bytes sent' and 'bytes recieved' to see how much data is going back and forth. Obviously ALL network traffic would be counted.

when you have added all the counters you can change the log target. By default it will be stored in c:\perflogs\data_nnnnnnn.blg

The 'System Monitor' mmc snap in will allow you to open and view the log file. - it should be above 'Performance Logs and Alerts' on the left of the MMC console.

You will need to also add the appropriate counters to the chart before you can actually see the specific data you have logged.

Hope this helps
