Internet Explorer Stopped Opening in Separate Windows

Greetings,

I consulted thread608-547658 and tried the solutions mentioned so that I could, once again, open separate instances of Internet Explorer, but neither suggestion worked (1. Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts--uncheck 2. Right-clicking a link to an URL and selecting "Open Link in New Window").

I've had no trouble opening separate instances of IE in the past. This suddenly happened yesterday.

Sounds like a pop up blocker or firewall with a banner blocker or pop up blocker feature stopping it. Close all firewalls and pop up blockers, even add on ones on ie and see if it works then. Let us know the results.

By the way norton and zone alarm both have features for doing this.

Thanks for the response.

I'm afraid to close my firewall and put my computer at risk. Do you really think that if I was always using the firewall before and my IE was always able to open separate windows before, that out of the blue, the firewall could cause the problem?

Is there no simple preference to check or uncheck that I could have missed?

Well here latey we have been getting a few post on things not showing up on pages and stuff of that nature and all have been related to firewalls. If you dont want to close it find the pop up feature or banner blocking features in them and disable that part and go from there. Let us know if this helps or not.

As for simple might give this page a try.
