I upgraded Internet Explorer 4.0 to 5.5 SP1. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the File drop down menu isn't present on the <b>Internet Explorer</b> toolbar. Why is this occurring and what is the resolution?

P.S. I've been contemplating this one for a while!

Thanks,

<dave>

Is the entire menu gone (File Edit View ...)?
If so you may have it set to fullscreen mode. After opening IE press F11 on your keyboard and see if it comes back to normal.

Hi Ajnin, another welcome &quot;face&quot;. well, you know what I mean :)

Dave, if it's just the File menu,
backup the registry and/or export the following keys:

Go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If you see an entry named NoFileMenu, right-click on it, choose modify and type in the number 0.
