Hey all. I am getting the Internet explorer security bar at the top of the browser on "some" sites im designing, blocking content unless the user ok's and allows the content. Not sure why most sites dont trigger this and some do.. any idea's why this is happening and how to get it NOT to trigger this alert? A service pack 2 thing obviously.
Thanks much!

Flash is an ActiveX plugin. In SP2 it has to be given permission to run. I don't think there is a work around.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

There are actually a couple of workarounds. Choose one. The first method is my favourite.

1. Embed the following into your pages:
Code:
<!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet -->

2. While developing on your local machine, change your html extensions to .hta

3. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab... and under Security, check "Allow Active Content to Run in Files on My Computer"

Works perfect.. thanks for the info, much appreciated!!!

Interesting stuff Frozenpeas... Here is an interesting note on the issue from Macromedia.

Macromedia said:
Note: This security message only occurs if you are viewing web pages directly from your hard drive. For example, C:\myFiles\myFile.htm. (Ref. 178644)

So you would not experience the problem if you were going to (if you have XP Pro)

Hope it adds something.
