Internet Explorer jeeps disconnecting

Please can anyone help?

I have just installed XP on a laptop and created an Internet connection (dial-up). However when I connect to the Internet, I get a very low transfer rate (around 9.6kbps) and after 30 seconds or so I am disconnected and computer tries to redial.

Contact your ISP Help and Support and see if the fault maybe is at their end. If not they maybe able to help you fix your problem.
