When I boot up my computer in the morning and start working on it, everything works fine. About 15 minutes into my work, I find that when I try to click on a Folder ICON on my desktop I get the message; 'EXPLORER - This program has perfomed an illegal operation and will be shut down. When I click on the details button i get 'EXPLORER casuse and invalid page fault in module <unknown> at....... If I reboot the computer the problem goes away and then sometime later it comes back. To get around it, I hit the ALT,CNTL,DELETE buttons and when I get CLOSE PROGRAM menu I do an END-TASK on EXPLORER. It takes a few seconds and I get a message box indicating that the program is not responding. I click END-TASK again and it fixes the problem for at least another 10 minutes or so. Another thing I noticed is that I can never get into HELP, regardless of what I do. When I try I ket an HH Caused an exception C0000006H in module KERNEL32.DLL....... message. Since this was an explorer error and I was running Microsof IE 5.0, I thought I would go to the Internet and download Version 6.0. I did this and it still did not fix the problem. I even ran the service pack that came with this and it still did not fix it. It's becoming a real pain to work on the computer. I spend half my time doing ALT/CNTL/Deletes just to keep going. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

To solve your problem try to re-install your windows or repair. Dont worry as long as you wont format your hard disk your files wont be lost. Doing repair or re-install will check any .sys/.inf/.exe or etc. of your windows being corrupted.....

Thanks,

Try this:

Check the Winsock.dll, Wsock32.dll, and Wsock.vxd Files
Check for multiple instances of the Wsock32.dll, Winsock.dll, and Wsock.vxd files. Also check the dates and versions of these files. Rename any file that is not in the appropriate folder (Wsock32.dll and Wsock.vxd should be in the Windows\System folder, and Winsock.dll should be in the Windows folder). To check for multiple files, use the following steps:

Click Start point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.

In the Named box, type the appropriate file name (for example, type "wsock32.dll" (without the quotes), "winsock.dll" (without the quotes), or "wsock.vxd" (without the quotes)), and then click Find Now.

NOTE: Be sure to search in the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive C).

To rename extra copies of the files that are not of Microsoft origin, right-click the file that was found, click Rename, and change the file extension to .old (for example, rename the Wsock32.dll file to Wsock32.old).

NOTE: If you receive an error message that a file by that name already exists, choose another file extension (for example, .zzz).

If you have multiple files trying to run, it will cause errors. Changing or deleting these files will give you smooth sailing operation :)
