I just got my first VISTA notebook. I have one really annoying thing that i havnt been able to figure out so far.
My Internet Explorer history is wiped every time the machine reboots. I have set IE to keep 20 days of history but it doesnt make any difference, the history is being wiped out by SOMETHING. I have Defender turned off so I know its not that. Im running Symantec Anti-Virus and I cant find anything in it that might be doing it. Im guessing that there's some new security "enhancement" in vista but the help files give me a dozen ways to clean out the url history but no ways to STOP it from being cleaned.
Can anybody point me to any way of figuring out what is deleting my history?

thanks

Have you set your browser to automatically clean them out when it is closed?

IE/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced/ Settings/ Security.

Group Policy may be set in a way that can have some effect on the problem or prevent it. For example -

Turn Off delete browsing history functionality.

"This policy setting prevents users from performing the "Delete Browsing History" action in Internet Explorer.

If you enable this policy setting, users cannot perform the "Delete Browsing History" action in Internet Options for Internet Explorer 7.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users can perform the "Delete Browsing History" action in Internet Options for Internet Explorer 7."

So check out what is available for IE in Group Policy.

Third party programs may be running via scripts or Scheduled Tasks which can do this sort of thing.

thanks, i never thought about the group policy stuff..
