I had a mess of viruses and spyware on this computer I am trying to fix. After I was able to remove all ( I think) and now everytime I try to start IE the system reboots. It works fine when started from safe mode. I tried reinstalling by changing the registry and reinstalling IE 6. It is still happening. I have no ideas of what to do at this point. Note: I had no problems with IE until removing all the "crap" that was on the computer

What version of Windows are you running?
Have you tried Mozilla Firefox, This is a better browser that IE.

I actually installed Firefox after posting my earlier message and it works just fine. As this is not my computer I wanted to try and get IE to work. But at this point I am going to tell them to use Firefox and I will continue to work on a solution for getting IE to work again. The system is using XP home.

You could always try a repair on the installation of XP home.
This may sort things out.

Hi, have you tried scf /scannow? Then reinstall IE (change the registry value "is installed" like you did before) then install (or reinstall) SP2. If it still doesn't work, post here again.

Hope this helps. Please let know if this resolve your issue
