Sorry, the search is down at the moment, so I cannot search in advance. Apologies if this is redundant:
I have a windows 2000 advanced server running as a terminal server, and today we noticed that we are unable to get to one of our own web sites if we use the www. prefix, but it works fine if we just use the domain.com. So I ran hijackthis to look for anything suspicious, and indeed there was one thing that immediately struck me, because it said something in parenthesis to the effect that "the browser is broken" and refered to a .dll in an odd location. I wish I could remember specifically, but more than that I wish hijackthis had left a backup file like it usually does. I don't know why it didn't this time.
Anyway, once I let hijackthis do its thing, the web browsers completely stopped working. But even stranger than that is is that any web browsers that were already open continued to work properly. Only new windows fail to operate correctly. Since so many users are still working, I have not reboot or done any of the usual stuff, but I will at 6 when they all leave. I'm just posting this in advance in case anyone has any insights for me.
I tried sfc, but it is complaining about the disk, and I installed from an msdn disk that it does not seem to want to accept now.
Any advice appreciated
