Hi everyone

A friend of mine asked my to come over to his house and help him upgrade his computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have run into a couple of problems and one of them has to do with Favorites for Internet Explorer.

Before installing W7 I backed up everything including all his favorites.

After the computer was up and running in W7 I moved the Favorites folder out or the Users/UserID folder and copied his old explorer folder in place of the default one to Users/UserID/Favorites.

When I opened IE8 only the original Favorites (the ones I had removed) showed. Not the ones in the new folder.

To try and find out where it was getting them I created a new one for "BMWUSA.com" It did not appear in the Users/UserID/favorites folder but there is a working favorite link in IE8.

I ran a search of the C:\ drive for BMWUSA and didn't find anything. It still shows the defualt links, including the BMW one that I created in IE.

So... Where is it storing Favorites, and how do I get his old Favorites to show up in IE8?

Ps on my computer and my wifes, both running W7 HP it seems to store them in the location that I placed his in and work fine.

If you click on Favorites in IE 8, and then on the dropdown arrow NEXT TO "Add to Favorites", you should see the option to Import and Export.

When you did this, "I moved the Favorites folder out or the Users/UserID folder", maybe Windows 7 interpreted this as changing the location of the folder, the same way it would if you actually right-clicked on the Favorites folder/ Properties/ Location?

So it may still be just using the old Favorites?
